AHBL provided civil engineering and landscape architecture design services for the 13,000 SF facility near Spokane Public School’s Libby Center. The project, titled “The Hive at Libby Center” includes four studio “maker spaces,” three training rooms, and a Spokane Public Schools’ Virtual Learning and teacher-training area with a podcasting studio, conference space, and offices, according to city documents. AHBL’s civil and landscape architecture teams were challenged to design a site that was pedestrian-friendly, provide traffic calming along a busy thoroughfare, and integrate the addition’s site design into the existing Libby Center.
The project is a collaboration between Spokane Public Library and Spokane Public Schools and was funded by SPS’s 2018 bond.
