This Design/Build project is located on 40 acres that was the former site of WWII era housing. The housing was demolished and the site is undergoing a complete redevelopment to accommodate the growing operations of JBLM. The project involved design and construction of three miles of new roadway, including storm drainage, sanitary sewer, water, gas, propane, and communication and data lines.
The new roads and infrastructure are helping revitalize this underutilized section of the North Fort area by solving major roadblocks to development, including access to new construction, aging and inadequate infrastructure, and improved traffic flow. The roads were designed with pedestrian facilities like on-street parking, bike lanes, sidewalks, landscape strips, and street trees to improve connectivity and community livability. With extensive building development occurring in the area, the new roadways and infrastructure allow increased functionality for existing facilities, opportunities for future growth, and safe and healthy multi modal transit options for our soldiers and their families.
