Phased replacement on occupied site to accomodate 900-student middle school.

The project demolished the original school and portables, replacing them with a new two-story, 900-student capacity building. Associated tasks included the addition of improved bus and passenger vehicle drop-off, parking, pedestrian facilities, associated utilities and playfields. The project was phased to allow the existing school to remain in operation while the new school was built.

A wet weather erosion control plan was developed to allow construction to continue through the wet season. Other challenges involved design to accommodate the existing high voltage power and fuel pipeline located along the easterly edge of the site, as well as the 50 foot change in topography across the developable portion of the site. Site work required for the new building, bus loops, student drop-off, vehicle parking and street improvements included grading, drainage plans, and stormwater conveyance flow control and treatment systems.
