Civil engineering design for a major high school campus replacement

Rainier Beach High School Replacement project included a new four-story, 297,000-SF high school campus in Seattle serving 1,600 students in grades 9–12. The project includes a regional Skills Center and district data center and is targeting LEED Platinum certification.

Construction is phased to keep students on-site and includes renovation of the existing Performing Arts Center and athletic fields will open in 2027. Funded through the BEX V program, the project also provides upgraded education technology and learning tools.

AHBL provided civil engineering services, including grading, utilities, and pedestrian access, along with permitting support through TESC and SWPPP plans. Design development was informed by collaboration with the School Design Advisory Team to align the campus with educational programming and community needs.
