Transforming Community Vision into a Year‑Round Public Destination

AHBL was selected in 2024 to lead both the design and construction phases of this transformational project. Working in close partnership with the City of Poulsbo, our landscape architects conducted a rigorous and detailed site verification process to ensure that every amenity envisioned in the Preferred Plan could be accurately and thoughtfully realized, reinforcing the original community‑driven vision.

From project kickoff, AHBL emphasized collaboration, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. Partnering with DCW, our team proactively aligned design decisions with established budget expectations to maintain cost certainty. When financial challenges emerged, AHBL and Schemata collaborated to deliver creative, cost‑effective solutions, most notably the integration of prefabricated restroom facilities elevated through custom detailing. These thoughtful design strategies enhance the user experience, strengthen the site’s identity, and uphold budget integrity without compromising quality. The project is now progressing through final construction drawings, with completion anticipated in 2027. Once complete, the park will feature two lighted synthetic turf tournament fields, a multipurpose restroom and office building, multi‑use courts, an accessible loop trail, a nature‑inspired playground, efficient landscaping and irrigation, and dedicated parking, creating a vibrant year‑round destination for the Poulsbo community.
