Expanded Chapel at Whitworth University connects ministry and academic programs

AHBL provided civil engineering services for the 3,900 SF expansion of the Chapel at Whitworth University. Site improvements included grading, stormwater management, utility connections, and fire access needed to support the new addition. The $2.8M expansion creates stronger connections between campus ministry, the theology department, and the Office of Church Engagement.

The project delivers new office space for more than 20 faculty, staff, and student employees, as well as a light‑filled student gathering area with wide conversation halls. The renovated 6,000 SF chapel now offers additional seating, upgraded audiovisual systems, and a refreshed conference room—enhancing the Chapel’s role as a central spiritual and community hub on campus.
