Civil Design for a New Cultural and Community Center

AHBL was selected as the civil designer for this new 21,000 SF cultural center for Asia Pacific Community located at Parks Tacoma, South Park off Pacific Avenue in Tacoma. The existing facility served the interest of over 10,000 community members annually. The new cultural center is a total replacement of the existing building to provide a more functional space for this thriving non-profit and will nearly double APCC’s facility size.  APCC worked in collaboration with Parks Tacoma to envision a more functional space with deeper visitor experiences. The first phase of development will include a new community building with the following amenities:

  • An Arts Gallery
  • Performing Arts Center
  • Welcome Center
  • Corridor of Nations
  • Community Gift Shop
  • Culinary Demonstration Kitchen
  • Asia Pacific Garden
  • Asia Pacific Library
  • Community Courtyard
  • Tea Room

AHBL provided parking and roadway infrastructure, updated ADA accessibility, and worked to reassure the community so that no Garry Oaks would be removed for the new development.
