The Center for Business & Innovation (CB&I) is a catalyst for creating and growing high-value, high-wage private sector companies.

AHBL provided structural engineering for this 53,000 sf renovation and seismic upgrade to South Puget Sound Community College's Row Six building into classroom and supporting office space. The new Center for Business and Innovation provides advising, coaching, training and full education programming for people starting a business. Additionally, the Thurston Economic Development Council's offices are housed in the Center for Business and Innovation.

AHBL's structural engineers worked collaboratively with the architect and contractor to deliver design-build project to the Owner in just under a year, and just in time for Fall 2015 quarter to begin. In order to achieve this tight timeline, demolition permits were acquired prior to the completion of design and construction documents, allowing the team to investigate existing conditions. This allowed us to identify unforeseen conditions, and produce clearer construction documents, thus avoiding costly change orders. Additionally, construction was phased, which reduced the schedule by approximately six months.
