Originally opened in 1923, Garfield High School underwent a $78.8M renovation and modernization. The additions and modifications replaced the old gymnasium and Teen Life Center with a PE/Athletics facility, Performing Arts and Stage, and a new Teen Life Center.
The project included the design of a new entrance plaza, parking areas, track and field revision, and demolition of some existing site features. Further site improvements included grading and drainage for the redeveloped areas of the site, a new off-site water main to meet requirements for fire flow, and upgrades to on-site utilities. Stormwater facilities were designed to provide detention and water quality treatment facilities to meet current City standards.
