AHBL Celebrates Groundbreaking of Transitions’ Home Yard Cottages in Spokane

24 cottages for chronically homeless women and children

AHBL provided landscape architecture for this new, $6.2 million project that will house chronically homeless women and children. Located in the Audubon Downriver neighborhood, which is in northwest Spokane, these 24 cottages will include apartments ranging from studios to three bedrooms, as well as two-story homes. The complex is owned and operated by Transitions, which is a nonprofit focused on lifting women and children out of poverty.

A focus of our landscape design was to blend the development with the residential neighborhood, while still offering a low-maintenance, low-water use landscape. The complex also includes two playgrounds and a small garden.

The project broke ground August 8, 2017, and is set to be complete in late 2018. You can read more about the groundbreaking festivities here. You can enjoy photos of the groundbreaking here.
